This is a mid- 1970's Ome Juggernaut II five string banjo with gold plating, extensive engraving, East Indian Rosewood, Keith Tuners on the 2nd and 3rd strings (recently refurbished at Beacon Banjo in NY), S/N 647, spikes at the 7th and 9th frets. Some belt buckle scratches on the resonator, a slide capo was removed and the holes repaired by a professional luthier, some normal wear of the gold plating on the armrest. The case is original but older. Overall condition is good and it plays beautifully! A brief history lesson on this model banjo: This is the fourth Juggernaut II ever made by Ome. It has a spun brass tone ring and bracket shoe construction with a two piece flange. It was made in March of 1974 and is the same model Ome that was used for the Dueling Banjos sound track by Eric Weissberg on Deliverance and has been played extensively by Janet Davis. A new Ome Juggernaut II with gold plating and East Indian Rosewood would run about $7K today!
