For Sale: Wildwood Artist Banjo (late 70's) - $1,350 USD

This is a late 1970's or early 1980's Wildwood banjo. I am the original owner. At the time, I believe this was called the Artist model and was their top of the line banjo. I was influenced by Wildwood's Art Rosenbaum endorsement in a Sing Out magazine ad. Solid maple construction with a tubaphone tone ring. It has beautiful Paramount style inlays. The banjo is in great shape with some wear marks from over 30 years of playing including one trip to New Zealand. There is some finish distortion on the back of the neck under the 2nd and 14th frets. The heel cap shows wear with a small chip in the point. RR spikes at frets 7, 9, and 10. I replaced all the hooks a few years ago. It has a Remo Weather King head. I used a pre-mounted skin head for many years, but it developed a tear and was replaced. I preferred the sound with a skin head. Includes used TKL gig bag. Shipping will be determined by location - actual costs only.

For Sale: Huber: Jim Mills - $3,375 USD

Built by Steve Huber as a replicate of Jim Mills famous Gibson prewar s/n F 453-2 gold and engraved Mack Crowe banjo as shown and described in Jim's recent Gibson Mastertone book starting on page 76. Great sounding and playing banjo with a slightly "V" shaped "speed" neck. Has gold Keith D-tuners on 2nd and 3rd strings. Notice the full "double-cut" peghead-not like some of the later Huber rounded double-cut pegheads following Gibson's "cease and desist" order. TKL hard case included. Leather strap included. Feel free to contact me with any questions. For full disclosure, there is a scratch on the outside wall of the resonator at about the 10 o'clock position. I've included a pic even though the pic looks much worse than it actually is. Other than that, the banjo is in very good condition.

Here's a chance to own a collector's item for sure. This banjo was commissioned by non other than Joe Spann during his employment at Huber banjos. The banjo was to replicate Earl Scruggs' banjo configuration during the famous live recording of Flatt and Scruggs at Carnegie Hall. The banjo features the Huber "Truetone" package with a gold plated HR-30 tone ring and Huber Engineered Rim. This banjo has a mahogany neck and curly maple resonator as did Earl's banjo, but with added concentric rings that are beautiful. The nickel hardware has the "vintage" finish. The banjo also features original Keith/Bump D-tuners and genuine prewar Grover pancake tuners as well. Every detail was carefully matched from the thin peghead overlay to having the famous serial number "9584-3" stamped in the rim. This is the only one in existence and is a VERY "Earl sounding" banjo to say the least. I don't have to sell this banjo but simply have too many others that are not getting played either. This one needs to be out there getting played. 5th string spikes are installed and ships in a brown Superior case. Don't hesitate to call or text if you have questions or want to see more pictures. 615-683-5840 Youtube Sample: youtube.com/watch?v=HB5Hkloe9ac Youtube Sample: youtube.com/watch?v=t6e_gXNwYs8

Here is one you may want to look twice at! This is a very nice, 2nd owner, unaltered (except below), 1988 Granada. Flying Eagle inlays, gold is excellent, wood is exceptional and one I am having much trouble parting with. I am a very poor player and the gold just haunts me! First full year of Greg Rich's production years. This one has a "frosted" early production Kulesh, Sr. tone ring which is rare. There is a story behind these if you care to call. This banjo is local to the Atlanta area and was played quite a bit during it's first years. I had Mark Bramlett (formerly w/Banjo.com) level and refret the board with medium stainless frets. The overall condition and playability are excellent. Mighty sweet sound! Not an ounce of disappointment in it. I will ship it but prefer a local sale if possible. Comes in a very nice and much sought after brown Gibson case with hot pink lining. The pictures should tell you quite a bit but you need to come play it. Thanks for looking. This is an instrument worth the money and I won't give it away. CAlls preferred. Scammers beware!

I know, I know, it's a cheap banjo... but I personally think it's a fine easy playing banjo--it would make a great "hack about" banjo to travel with you where you don't want to take your awesome super expensive banjo! It's lightweight and sounds decent. I had a drummer friend tune and tighten the head for me and it really made a difference! Seems like the newer ones of these have a fiberskin head--this one doesn't. It even still has the plastic over the little truss bar cover up on the headstock. It has dual coordinator rods, and a rolled brass tone ring. So if you're thinking about getting a cheap banjo for...whatever...buy mine :) You'd be hard pressed to find a mark on it. Other than dust, it's like new. Just the banjo--I don't have a case for it. New ones are $239.00. Thanks for looking.
