This is a 1977 Baldwin Ode model C. It is a gorgeous walnut banjo that has signs of age but is a splendid instrument and was the best of the best in its time. As a Baldwin Ode it is pre Gretch (they do not have the Baldwin banner) - I have reconfigured it with a Cox tailpiece and Waverly tuners. The neck binding in a couple of places has been replaced - by the fifth tuner about 3/8 inch and about two inched by the heel along the fifth string. The resonator is as seen. It is in a high end case - probably Guardian but marked Gold Tone - the original had lost its padding.
In its current configuration it now has an Elite head (amber and like the Remo Rennaissance) -
It is a fine banjo of its kind and plays and sounds fabulous. I am in southern Vermont if someone wants to come and play it.
