Baldwin Ode style D, gold and engraved, walnut neck and resonator. This banjo is from the early 1970's as is indicated by "Baldwin" inlayed as a pearl banner above "ODE". Also, the serial number is stamped into the rim, rather than on a paper label as was done in the Gretsch era. This banjo is from the same production period as the one played by Jack Hicks, with Bill Monroe, in the early 1970's.
The wood, gold plating and engraving is in remarkable condition. The finish has minor indications of age and use. No repairs other than the filling of sliding 5th string capo holes. This was done by custom lathing small walnut plugs to glue into the holes. Very neat and better looking than putty. New Weather King head installed. New strings. Case appears to be a TKL in excellent condition.
