Nice old Tokai (mostly) parts masterclone. Took a chance on this one on eBay because of the nice style 4 neck (which is unusual and indeed very nice) and the long skirt tone ring. Was a good gamble. I think the banjo originally was a floor sweep of sorts. Had the 52 oz long skirt Gold star tone ring but mounted on a strange looking thin rim. And mahogany resonator with maple neck, though stained to match well. Replaced the rim with a Cooperman that was expertly fitted and finished by Mark Hickler. New Waverly's, including the 5th, and chrome plated armrest and tailpiece from Gold tone to match the original chrome tension hoop, flange and tone ring. Moon 11/16ths bridge and 5 star head. Nice. The banjo is older though and is not without its flaws as shown in the pics (some scratches on side of headstock, Shubb 5th string capo holes, and a little chip under the binding at the heel). But the neck has very little play wear and is straight as they come. Likely a 30+ year old neck. This banjo sounds excellent, with a deep loud bluegrass bark. More discussion of it below. Feel free to ask questions. . Also, comes with older case that is a bit faded looking but in good shape. Would consider trading for things like an old Ome Grubstake, Ode model A (alumipot), Deering Bluegrass Wonder, newer Goodtime Special, old Deering Intermediate or Basic.
