This is a New Barry Sholder Gourd 5 string Banjo #041
This banjo features American Cherry neck with fretless Ebony fingerboard with lemon oil finish.The tuner are also Ebony friction violins.The banjo is strung with a custom set of D'Addario nylon and composite classical guitar strings. These have a harder feel than the Nylguts.
The peghead has an overlay of Ziricote, a hardwood from South America.
The gourd measures 9 1/2" dia x 6"deep and has a 2 1/2" soundport on the upper side of the gourd for better bass response. As with all my banjos the interior is coated with fiberglass resin for better acoustics. The banjo has a Romero style tailpiece that keep the string off the edge of the gourd. The gourd is covered with goatskin.
