Dyed hard maple neck with a tight grain perfectly quartersawn Macassar ebony fingerboard 25.5" scale. Matching Macassar ebony peghead overlay. The rim is a pear wood 11 5/8" silverspun from an unknown maker and has all of the original hardware. 20 shoes. This rim was the inspiration for my 20L banjo model, my hook/nut B and my L shoe B, plus the hex rim bolts I use. The rim is a favorite of mine and I have owned it for years. The dowel stick came off of a broken neck from the 1880's. It has a nickel nameplate that says "IDEAL D&H St. Paul" and is made of Brazilian rosewood. I dyed the neck to a close match in color. Making RD Lunceford's banjo inspired me to get this up and running. It is strung with nylgut strings and has a punchy and growly old rim sound. Sound files early next week.
