***$575.00 OBO*** An excellent, innovative, vintage 5-string from a little-known maker based in Gorham, ME. The neck is one piece of cherry, ebony fingerboard with tasteful inlays. The rim is rather unique (Patent No. 542,165). It's made from nickel-plated brass and configured in such a way so that the hooks remain on the inside of the rim, providing a smooth surface around the rim's entire circumference (very easy to rest this guy on your knee). 24 brackets, all original, though one is loose. Skin head, original tuners (except for the knob on the 5th string), new ebony tailpiece, skin head, bone nut. Neck is straight, plays true up the neck. I have it strung with Nylgut. 18 frets, 26.5" scale. Comes with a softshell carrying case. Here's a few videos of this instrument being played: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHcnqGPYCQ4 (clawhammer) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gtl6aG2aW-M (2-finger thumb lead) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi3gle2AmNk (clawhammer) If you've got any questions or would like to see a photo of something more specific, do drop me a message and I'll get back to you quickly. I hate to see this baby go, but if she is going, I want to make sure she goes to the right person. Thanks!
