This is a left handed banjo.
This banjo produce the distinguishable Bluegrass tone and is very easy to play. The tone ring is a 20 hole Flattop tone chamber that is probably an old Blaylock with no marking except B J on the side, The rim is a hard rock 3-ply maple rim with a one piece flange. The Tailpiece is a Fults 1934 fully ajustable, The neck is straight and new and fits perfectly tight to the rim, the inlays are very nice. The tuners are planetary style with a waverly 2 band 5th string tuner and ebony buttons. the resonator is mahogany and in good condition. Every metal component of this banjo( except for the tension hooks ) is top quality plated brass including the armrest, the armrest has some wear from playing. Overall, a great high quality banjo, due to an upcoming surgery, I am not going to be able to play for quite a while. The sound is great, of all my banjos my family and friends like the sound of this one the best, including my Stelling.
The neck cross-section reminds me of a gold-tone, so it's a little thicker, but very easy to play.
If you are looking forward to upgrading your playing, this is a great "next step!" There are no name or markings on the banjo rim, so i cannot say it's a Gibson but it is built and sounds like one.
