beautiful long mahogany neck with warm woody tone. Banjo is set up for nylon strings. I replaced the gold painted parts that make it a Woodsongs with new nickel items from Deering and Stew-Mac...Deering tension hoop, 5 Star arm rest, Kirschner t/p and Rotomatic tuners. I replaced the Deering hooks and nuts with Rickard closed ball-end 9/32 nuts and hooks from Stew-Mac. I replaced the black plastic head with a new white frosted Weatherking. I added a 5th string post for a nut and a long Schubb capo. I have had many long neck banjos set up with nylon strings and sliding capos. Because of the stretching of the nylon string, I lift the string off the nut post, letting it set outside of the nut, on the fret. The string goes flat and out of tune. I then engage the capo where I want and the pressure on the string brings it back to pitch. This is the best set-up I have found to deal with the sharpening up of the 5th string when using the sliding Schubb for quick key changes. The long scale and the nylon seem to work best with a 3/4 bridge which I purchased from a fellow BHO member which does not have an ebony strip. the tone and volume are great for vocals. When capoing up the neck, I place the capo close to the fret. The banjo could be set up with steel strings and a lower bridge could be then used but I believe the nut would have to be replaced as the string slots are cut to accept the larger diameter nylon strings. I am happy to answer any other questions and send additional photos...excellent Deering hsc is included
