1930 Gibson TB-4 One Piece Flange converted by Steve Huber with HR-30 flathead ring and Arthur Hatfield custom Hearts & Flowers matching neck that fits and plays like a dream. All CHROME parts are original to this banjo including two-band Grover tuners and clamshell tailpiece, serial (FON) numbers 9521-36 match. Comes with very nice hardshell case.
Slight pitting on tension hoop and if the flange looks a little pulled up in the photos, it's because the sound chamber was adjusted to help increase the power and volume of the banjo.
Resonator was refinished a number of years ago, has about a one inch light surface crack, and has that beautiful concentric marquetry inlay on the back with a beautiful quilted walnut pattern.
I bought it a few years ago from Chris Wade, who plays professionally, and who was VERY reluctant to sell it but needed to move on to another project. This banjo is extremely powerful with a strong bass presence, clear mid range, and very clear and precise highs.
There are not many prewar style 4's that come on the market, so this is an excellent opportunity to own one at a very reasonable price.
As with all other banjos I've sold, this one has a 2 day money back inspection period.
Sorry, I can't take trades on this one but will consider any reasonable offers presented.
This is professional grade instrument in every respect and you would be proud to play it onstage at any venue.
Thanks for looking and please let me know if you have any question.
Hopefully I'll get a few sound bytes online soon.
