This Gold Star (note: it's mahogany) has been a great banjo for me. Has a very nice, clean sound. I bought it used from Elderly Instruments at the end of '10 and have played it about every other day sense than. I bought it to gig and jam with but I just never did make it out like I thought I would. I just lost $500 on a bad mother board in my new computer (no warranty) so I decided it was time to re-size the banjo collection to more align with my current playing needs. Don't need this nice of a banjo to sit in my room and play on.
Couple notes about the condition -
It has a nick on the peg head. (As seen in the picture.)
The arm rest as some tarnishing form daily use.
Neck is shimmed with a couple pieces of woody paper stuff.
The action is really nice on this banjo. With the bridge I have on it right now its about right in the middle of what you'll see most banjos at. I have had a bridge on it with shortened feat to get the action super low and man it was some easy fretting and no buzzing. Minimal fret wear.
Will consider trades of lesser value with some cash thrown in.
I'll try and throw a sound clip up on my homepage of this banjo if your interested.
