This is a great example of a well preserve almost century old banjo. The rim and the hardware are in superb condition. This 1926 Style N is ready for another century.
10 15/16 inches hard maple 5 ply rim in excellent condition, no delamination, no cracks and with it's original finish. It is mounted with the same tone ring as the Little wonder.
All the hardware is original and without any deep scratches or Nickle wear off. A few hooks are from another 1922 Vega that I keep for parts.
New nickle plated brass No Knot tailpiece and wire Armrest.
New hand made mahogany one piece neck with the original dowel stick. Ebony fingerboard, heel cap and head plate. Mother of pearl dots, star and engraved gryphon. binding is faux tortoise to match the rim bindings. scale is 26 3/16 inches neck is 1 3/8 at the nut and 1 7/8 at the heel. 7/8 of an inch thick including fingerboard so it is quite flat and has a great playability. 2 way adjustable truss rod ( heel access) nickle/silver frets. Action is 2.1 mm at the 12 th fret with a 11/16 inch maple/ebony bridge.
Tuning machine are Waverly Nickle/brass ''2 band'' offset gear case with grained ivoroid knobs. 5th string is set with a Gotoh tuner nickle finish.
unbleached none nut.
Elixir medium gauge strings.
This fine Vega banjo deliver the authentic warm and deep sound typical to these vintage Vega that no reproduction can match.
