A Frailing banjo.
Very hard maple 7/16 of an inch thick rim with nickle plated brass spun over. Rim is 11 1/8 inches in diameter. No cracks, untwisted very solid rim.
New calfskin head mounted on 1/8 of an inch square brass ring. Stain with a coffee color and with a painted circle ribbon.
Nickle plated brass heavy tension hoop. This tension hoop is nickle plated on the outer face only. inside face and top are raw brass.
3/16 of an inch raw brass tone ring
Original shoes and bolts.
New nickle plated brass nuts and nickle plated round hooks.
Ebony tailpiece with a mother of pearl star.
Neck is all maple and in excellent condition, no cracks, not twisted , very straight and solid it can be set with light gauge steel strings. The fingerboard and the frets are new. Ebony plate and silver/nickle frets.
Scale is 25 inches, neck is 1 1/4 inch at the nut and 1 7/8 inch at the heel. Action is 2,5 mm at the 12th fret. very easy to play.
New Ebony tuners. They hold the tuning very well and can be used with steel strings.
Unbleached bone nuts , Mother of pearl inlays, strung with Aquila Nylgut strings.
Very sweet sounding beautiful and like new 120 years old banjo.
