Beautiful Nechville walnut phantom with galaxy inlays for sale. Excellent condition, purchased new in 2006. Details can be found on the Nechville web site at: http://www.nechville.com/phantom.php. I'm selling this banjo only because I have too many instruments and not enough money. The tone and playability are outstanding, and I've loved owning this banjo. You will too. Here are my favorite features:
The banjo is really a work of art, beautiful just to look at, let alone play
The 5 Gotoh tuners provide very smooth fine tuning
Tunneled fifth string makes it easy to move up and down the neck quickly
Smooth wooden arm rest is very comfortable
The banjo is very light, about the same weight as a banjo with a wooden tone ring (but this banjo has an excellent metal tone ring)
Action can be raised or lowered easily by adjusting the neck attachment height with a special tool (included)
Radiused ebony fingerboard with beautiful abalone galaxy inlays (stars, meteors, planets, etc.)
Maple binding all around, gorgeous walnut resonator
Head tension is easy to change with the turn of a special tool (included) and is always uniform (I've checked all over the head with a drum tension gauge), because of the heli-mount design
If you appreciate careful, intelligent design, you'll love this banjo on that level too
Comes with a capo made especially for the radiused fretboard, hard shell TKL case, plus the original Nechville compensated bridge and the Sosobee bridge I have on it now. All original parts, 5th string spikes at frets 7, 8, 9, and 10. The banjo has rarely been out of my climate-controlled music room, but has been played regularly and carefully maintained. Normal light fret wear and smudge on the head from anchor fingers. Current list price for this banjo purchased new is $5500 - buy this one for $3600, in excellent condition, with the banjo already settled in and producing terrific tone.
