For sale, one 1981 Deering "Basic" 5-String Bluegrass/Resonator Banjo. The banjo is in exquisite condition; it plays very, very well and sounds just spectacular - only one owner! Unbelievably close to "as new," especially for a 31-year-old instrument. All original parts save: (1) the addition of Schaller (I believe) Keith/Scruggs-style tuners to the middle two strings (the other two tuners are the original guitar-style, I'll include a pair of Five-Star planetary tuners in case you feel like routing the holes to fit); and (2) a more recent Presto-style tailpiece (the original clamshell tailpiece is included). The Deering "Basic" and "Intermediate" models were produced in the late seventies/early eighties and have a steel rim (the modern version is the Deering Boston: http://www.deeringbanjos.com/boston) and "butterfly" 24-piece flange. Nice'n light, nice'n loud, really fantastic tone. With the original chipboard case and a bunch'o goodies including picks, mutes, a chord book, etc... $500 obo. Thanks!
