For sale is a unique, one-off, by Mike Ramsey purchased from Don Zepp but hardly played. It is one of a number of banjos i must reluctantly sell. This one is a Woody, but with a 12" Tony Pass "Lost Timbre" sunken birch block pot. The inlays are a dragon in the headstock and stars below the plate which covers the first five frets. The inlays and the dragon are, i understand, unique to Ramsey banjos. It has a Renaissance head and a no-knot tailpiece. The tuners are 5-Star brand planetaries. The neck and 12-inch pot have a reddish stain.
In Zepp's words, "The scooped, ebony fingerboard has a handsomely engraved star pattern above the 5th fret, while the area of frets 1-5 has been overlain with Sterling silver. The three-piece neck is predominantly highly flamed maple."
My picture taking ability is unfortunately limited, and the banjo, finish, and inlays look even better in person. I'll send with a hard shell case.
