Can't squeeze a Ron Stewart Yates into your budget? Try this:
The neck is a mahogany conversion neck with rosewood fingerboard built by a very well known maker. The resonator matches the neck perfectly. The pot consists of a Yates red maple "fatboy" rim mated with an unplated no hole V33 tone ring and one of Warren's flanges. All hardware is distressed for that old look. The tailpiece is a drilled prewar Grover Presto Pat. Gotoh tuning pegs. AMB head. Sosebee submerged wood bridge. The set-up is excellent. Perfect neck to rim fit. Fresh AMB cryo strings. Powerful, clear cutting sound with absolute perfect intonation up the neck. The sound is, well Yates. Enough said. This banjo will satisfy the most discriminating player.
No fret grooving whatsoever. Wood finish is distressed as well. Binding has been antiqued and is the natural yellow shading one would expect from an older instrument.
Strap not included in sale. New guardian case.
Will be extremely well packaged and fully insured with fast UPS ground shipping. Email with any questions you may have and I will respond in a timely manner.
