Well, I said I would never sell this banjo, but fate gave me an opportunity to acquire a flathead 3, sooo......this banjo is now available.
Purchased 9489-81 as a cut 3 about four years ago, had an early Liberty banjo made style 3 neck in it. Since then I had Frank Neat build a mahogany style 3 neck. The pictures will show a hint of curl in the mahogany. The rim is not a "fat boy" but a true 5/8" thick rim. The flange is old, but we surmise this banjo may have left the factory later, in that the flange has some buffing done on the back side.
Steve Huber installed one of the first HR30 tone rings in it about 18 months ago. He cut the ring a little heavier for this banjo at 3 lbs 3 oz.. Gives it a fuller sound than the first 3 lb ring installed in it.
At Banjothon in 2011, I asked Jim Mills to cut a small clip for me.....you can listen to it here.....

I have few other clips on Youtube with me playing it, but we all know why I would include this link with Jim playing it.....LOL.
Not interested in trades at this point in time, but I am a realist. Let's talk..........
