For Sale: 1980 Ode Style D - $2,300 USD
I don't want to sell this banjo, but I've got two great banjos and really only need one, so I'm listing them both and will keep whichever one does not sell first. Ode Style Ds are fairly rare and highly coveted...an outstanding US-made vintage banjo option for those who can see past the "Earl played a Gibson" thing. Bobby Thompson is the most famous Ode player, but a lot of great bluegrass pickers own and love their vintage Ode banjos.
This comes from the Baldwin period, after Chuck Ogsbury sold the company. Banjo is in very good condition. First frets show wear and there are some minor scratches from play, but the metal parts look great and the banjo is in very good condition considering its age. Back of the resonator shows a few finish bubbles that I could not photograph. You'll often see these banjos with heavily tarnished or flaking gold hardware - this one looks pretty clean. And it is one LOUD banjo. Really pops, and grabs attention in a jam. Has a sliding 5th string capo installed, but otherwise appears to be all original. The inside of the resonator shows two holes in the rim - for some reason the resonator lugs were moved by the original owner. The original owner had a clear head on the banjo and had stickers with his name on the inside of the resonator. The second owner removed them, but you can still see some discoloration where they were originally stuck. Comes with original hardshell case.

For Sale or Trade: Kent Tenor Banjo with Resonator - $125 USD
Kent brand tenor (4-string) banjo. Aluminum pot with attractive gold-finish accents. Includes resonator. Currently tuned for Irish traditional playing, but could be retuned for Dixieland, ukulele, or whatever. Clean and in good condition. It does have a bit of a twist in the neck (see photo), but it doesn't significantly affect play, at least to me, but then I suck at 4-string banjo. Other than the twist it's in excellent condition.
Would make a great introductory or travel banjo. Inexpensive enough to get your foot in the door, but good enough quality to be fun to play and encourage practice.
Will consider a trade for a nice tenor ukulele. Especially a tenor banjo ukulele. ESPECIALLY a large-pot tenor banjo ukulele. But I'd entertain trade offers for other good stuff.

For Sale or Trade: Deering Goodtime 2 Banjo - Like New Condition - $325 USD
For sale in person in Oregon's Willamette Valley (though I'm willing to drive a little).
This is a Deering Goodtime 2 banjo. It's possibly the world's most popular model of bluegrass banjo. It is an excellent balance of low price, excellent intonation and tone, and easy playability. Its resonator increases its volume but is built in such a way that it doesn't add a ton of weight (unlike most inexpensive resonator banjos). It's in great condition. (I was tempted to say it's "mint" but a lot of new banjos aren't even mint in my book.)
Includes a beautifully embroidered Deering gig bag with backpack straps. Excellent for new players or as a traveling banjo.
Will consider a trade for a nice tenor ukulele. Especially a tenor banjo ukulele. ESPECIALLY a large-pot tenor banjo ukulele. But I'd entertain trade offers for other good stuff.

Okay folks, not really wanting to see this go, but I'll be moving overseas next month for an extended period of time and I am NOT going to put this into storage or just let it sit. For sale or POSSIBLE trade for decent Uke that I can take with me overseas... Deering Goodtime 2 with the following to help you out: awesome tweed hardcase, Lakota Leathers strap in black, moon bridge (currently installed), original bridge, Murphy Method DVDs, Kruger DVD, and free shipping (CONUS).
I will be dropping this in price by $50 each week for the next three weeks until it hits $400 and then I'll just beg one of you to take it, hold onto it, and play it now and again until I get back...sincere gratitude and possible payment involved. LOL!

For Sale: 1926 Gibson TB Granada - $6,500 USD
Beautiful 1926 Gibson TB Granada w/OHSC in very good condition f This is a ball-bearing, two piece flange model with a very nice Kirshner tailpiece. The original wrench is included. I got this banjo from the original owner's grand-daughter and was told the owner played Dixieland / Jazz in a bar he owned in Wisconsin. He bought it new and cared for it until forced to give it up later in life. It sat in the case for quite a few years. The gold is excellent and the wood is amazing. The neck has a stained glass look. The resonator is well figured with clearcoat crazing normal for this age instrument. It was obviously well cared for. I bought it thinking conversion but think it is too nice to alter. There is no damage on this banjo. You will be pleased . $6500 o.b.o.Thanks for looking.

For Sale: Pisgah Silver Belle with quality accessories. REDUCED - $1,000 USD
Up for sale is my Pisgah Silver Belle and included will be $200 in accessories. Top shelf all of them. Patrick at Pisgah built this one-off banjo in 2013. It looks like a Opossum model with a silver spun tone ring and a red dyed finger board. Also it has a Kershner adjustable tail piece installed. Everything will be included in the factory hard shell case. The banjo may have been made in 2013 but the original person who ordered it passed away before he could get it. In addition to the banjo and hardshell case I will include a NeoTech Banjo strap, Elixir 10-23 strings, Wire armrest, Mikes Banjo mute, Korg clip on tuner, Sammy Shelor finger picks, Blue Chip thumb pick (large), 3 way wrench for banjo adjustment. This is a very nice setup if your upgrading, just wanting another or giving as a gift. Please contact me with any questions. This is the only Silver Belle that Patrick has ever made or will make. His words.
Updated to add: It is a 12" pot in maple. Walnut neck and persimmon fingerboard that Patrick dyed red at the factory.

I'm selling a beautiful Deering Black Diamond banjo. It's in excellent condition. I have barely used it. I have 5 other Deerings. I need to down size just a bit.

For Sale: Gibson RB-3 Wreath Copy - $900 USD
This is a courtesy listing for a friend.
He's selling a really nice Gibson RB-3 Wreath copy.
Double bound mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with wreath MOP inlay, double-cut peghead, bound Cox mahogany resonator with dual concentric rings, Cox 3-ply maple rim, Sullivan 20-hole flathead tone ring (same ring as the Gibson-Crowe), dual coordinator rods, one piece flange, 24 bracket notched tension hoop, new Remo head, 5th string capo spikes installed at 7 and 9, planetary tuners with geared 5th peg, and Presto tailpiece. All of the hardware is new nickel plated Recording King parts.
The only issue with this banjo is the heel was originally cut for a two-piece flange, and has now been modified to fit a one-piece flange.
The inside of the resonator is signed by the late, great Earl Scruggs.
Comes shipped in a good, serviceable hard shell case.
A sound file of this banjo is available.
In case you might want to see and play this one in person, the banjo is located in the Bedford, VA area.
The parts alone in this banjo are worth more than the owner's asking price, in my humble opinion.
Once you do the math, I think you'll quickly realize what a great buy this is.
He's only selling it to buy a good maple archtop banjo. There's no other reason.

For Sale: 1980 ODE Model D - $1,650 USD
1980 Model D with the classic ODE sound. This thing is a monster, sounds great on stage or recording studio. This banjo recorded better than most pre war Gibsons and others. This was the primary instrument for a player before I bought it 20 years ago. It has some gold worn off (especially the armrest) and some wear. It can be replated at Huber for $60.00. These are very collectible since 1980 was the last year of production. The banjo has spikes on the 5th string that stay in tune, when you use them. Includes orginal hardshell case, you may call or text me at 419-571-4077 for additional info or sound clips or PM me on The Hangout.

For Sale: Suitcase Banjo - Backyard Music - $125 USD
I have a Suitcase Banjo For Sale. I bought it for when I was travelling on the road. I decided to retire and am not on the road anymore. The banjo is great for practice (especially in the hotel where you don't want to upset the neighboring rooms). I didn't use it much so it's in mint condition. It cost $169 new ($159 plus $10 for the armrest) I am asking only $125 plus shipping. I am also including an inexpensive gig bag that I had cut down to fit. Here are the specifications from the Backyard Music website:
Suitcase Banjo is a light weight, 28.5" long, fretted 5-string open-back banjo designed for travel or backpacking. The tuning gears are tucked under the pot; ball-end strings are threaded through holes at the first position end of the banjo, pass over the bridge, and through grommets into a stringing channel under the pot of the banjo. It takes a few days to get used to tuning the banjo but you soon get the hang of it. We include an entire exta set of ball end medium gauge banjo strings with each suitcase banjo, because they may be hard to find when traveling or backpacking.
One-piece neck of solid, legally-harvested Nicaraguan Mahogany, with 19 frets and a vibrating string length of 23.25" (same scale length as our basic banjo);
Side-of-neck fret markers at 7th, 10th, 12th, 15th and 17th fret.
Geared tuning machines for all 5 strings;
Pot is 9.25" in diameter, and made of 1/8", 3-ply Italian poplar plywood held on a hoop made from industrial-strenth mailing tube (1/4" thick wall, protected by a layer of shellac and waterproof paint)
Strings on banjo are medium gauge (.010", .012", .016", .023", .010") nickel-silver
Total weight is less than 2 lbs!
Tunes to G or A major in standard G tuning.
Has two screw eyes installed for attaching a strap as shown in picture. strap not included

For Sale: 1994 Gibson Granada $4100 OBO - $4,200 USD
1994 Gibson Granada ser. # 9412-118. This banjo has good volume and that great Gibson sound. Arm rest has some slight wear and a few small pits that are very small. Tension hoop has some small pits ( neither effect the way it plays. see pictures ) It come with brown Gibson case. I took this banjo apart and cleaned it with gold coin cleaner and a polishing cloth I got from my jeweler. About 95 percent of the tarnish is gone. It still has some small pits but it looks much much better. The banjo was professionally set up and the the tone ring was set and it had a new head put on it. Some of the frets were to high and where dressed and the bridge was dressed to fit the neck. Sounds great. New pictures are on.
