For Sale: For Sale: 2013 Hatfield Custom W/Blaylock Tone Ring - $2,000 USD

For sale 2013 Hatfield custom with Bill Blaylock unplated tone ring. Mahogany neck and resonator, wreath inlay pattern, Hatfield .656 compensated bridge, no fret wear, spikes at 7, 8 and 9 and Superior Fiberglass case in nice condition. I bought this Hatfield Custom a year and a half ago and it came with a tone hoop. Last spring I went Bill Blaylocks shop and he cut the rim and installed one of his incredible unplated tone rings on Arthur Hatfield's beautiful banjo. The reason I am selling is that Mr. Blaylock installed another ring in my 1927 Gibson conversion and both banjos are so close in tone and volume that I am going to look for something to contrast the Gibson for sound, maybe maple. The back of the resonator has a small ding shown in photo at about the 10 o'clock position.

For Sale: Beautiful Curly Maple Gibson Parts Banjo with Hatfield Tone Ring - $1,400 USD

Great sounding and beautiful banjo. I bought it several years ago and was told the following information. The resonator is from a 1990s Gibson Grenada. The curly maple matching neck was made by Clancy Mullins and has the Gibson Wreath inlay on an ebony fretboard. The neck is slightly wider and has some of the finish removed from the back to give it a satiny speed neck feel. Has cam D tuners installed which allows the banjo to be tuned at any time without having to reset the D tuners. The pot hardware comes from a 1920s Gibson and a 1950s Gibson RB 250. Not sure if the wood rim is a Gibson or not. I always assumed it was based on the assembly of Gibson parts, but there are no markings. A couple of years after buying the banjo, I took it to Arthur Hatfield to replace the tone ring with one of his rings. I asked him if he could identify the rim, and after he installed the ring he said he couldn't identify the maker but it's a very good 3 ply wood rim. The Presto tailpiece, armrest, flange plate, and tuners are relatively new. Please see link below for a video of this banjo being played to demonstrate the great sound. Also see photos and ask if have questions. Comes with a Pro-Tec case as pictured.

I LISTED IT AS FAIR CONDITION , I THINK IT'S BETTER THAN THAT , BUT I'D RATHER "UNDER-RATE IT"

1997 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard. I have owned quite a few re-issue Gibsons and this one was hands-down the best of the bunch. Loud, clear and growly just like they should be. Frets are in great shape and has spikes installed. There are a few very light beltmarks on the resonator. Beautiful wood and workmanship. It had a Shubb 5th string capo when I bought it so there are two small mounting holes where it used to be. I can include the Shubb if interested. The neck plays like butter. A great Gibson banjo that actually sounds as good as it looks. Original Gibson case. Why spend more for a Huber or a Yates or any other masterclone when you can get the real deal that will appreciate in value instead of losing your shirt?

Hi everyone. I'm selling my Recording King banjo I have kept at my girlfriend's (now fiance) apartment over the past year when we lived in different states. I had this banjo at her place so I could use it when I visited. I have now moved to Colorado, where she lives, so I no longer need the banjo! Anyway, as far as the banjo is concerned, it's in great condition. I've only played it a handful of times (maybe 10-15 times). It's pretty easy to play and sounds great. Shoot me an email if you're interested or would like further information. Thanks, -zach

This is a Mystic Banjo, in fully playable condition. The Mystic, most likely was made by Lyon & Healy, c. 1899, in Chicago. Lyon & Healy sold many lines of banjos, and the "Mystic" line was in the middle quality-wise. This banjo sold for about $17 in 1897, and it is a fine playing banjo with a spunover rim, real ebony fingerboard and peghead veneer, a mahogany neck, and extremely nice, tasteful pearl inlays. A nice player with the perfect sound for frailing, clawhammer, and other old-time styles, it appears unaltered with a hand written note on the back side of the head, September 1901 Moderate wear overall but well preserved for over 100 years old. An attractive old open back 5-string, in generally excellent condition is a treasure. A hard case is included in the sale. Features:(All dimensions are approximate inch measurements) Overall length is 35 1/4. Diameter of head: 11 Depth of rim, measured at side: 2 1/4. Scale length is 25 1/2. spunover metal banded wood ring with included tone ring. 24 original tension hooks and nuts Ebony fingerboard, minimal wear on this and frets, 7 pearl inlays, plus 2 inlays on peg head.

Up for sale is my Nechville Classic, DLX. I purchased it in 2011, at Fiddler's Green in Austin, TX. It features a maple AAA Premium Tiger Stripe Maple Neck and Resonator, a 7" to 12" compound radius of the fretboard, Gotoh tuners, and a 3 Ply maple rim. I played it 4 years, and it is still in excellent condition. It took me across 2 US tours, several studio sessions, including recording for NBC's Revolution, it was played by John McCuen of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and also by Dr. Ralph Stanley when we were lucky enough to open up a show for him in Austin, TX.

Have a real nice 5 string banjo for sale, I got the pot assembly from Eric at 1st quality banjo, and bought a very cool 64 bowtie gibson neck in excellent condition. I put all the best into this banjo, has a cox rim, sunburst resonator, J.D Crow tone ring (gibson).waverely tuners, cradle strap etc. and a new case. I put it on reverb,( you can see lots of pictures of it there) for 1,850, but will sell it for less ($1700). this is a banjo pickers banjo, I have put together many banjos over the years, and had my on luthier shop for 10 years, I wanted a banjo that had all the best qualitys, but didn't look to gaudie. Used to play a lot, but found my fingers aren't what they used to be. Anyway give me a call if interested. Thanks. Richard 805-965-1741
