For Sale: **SALE PENDING** CUSTOM MADE PETE SEEGER STYLE LONG NECK BANJO WITH VEGA POT & CASE - $750 USD
HI, AND THANKS FOR LOOKING AT MY AD
I HAVE HERE TODAY A CUSTOM MADE EXTRA LONG NECK "PETE SEEGER STYLE" 5 STRING BANJO USING A VEGA POT WITH A SPECIAL BRASS TONE RING, AND CUSTOM MADE LONG NECK.
I BOUGHT THE VEGA POT ON EBAY, AND IT HAD THE BRASS TONE RING IN IT. I DON'T KNOW WHO MADE THE TONE RING, BUT IT IS A VERY GOOD UPGRADE FROM THE BRASS ROD THAT THESE POTS USUALLY HAVE, AND REALLY SOUNDS AMAZING.
I BOUGHT THE LONG NECK ON EBAY TOO, AND DON'T KNOW WHO MADE IT, BUT WHOEVER BUILT IT DONE A VERY NICE JOB ON IT. THE NECK IS A LITTLE THICKER THAN THE AVERAGE NECK, AND WOULD BE GREAT FOR A PLAYER WITH BIG HANDS. IT HAD NEVER BEEN INSTALLED ON A POT, AND I MATED IT TO THE VEGA POT, AND PUT ONE OF MY CUSTOM BUILT SPILLWAY DAM BANJO BRIDGES ON IT, AND IT REALLY CAME TO LIFE.
IF YOU WANT A LONG NECK BANJO LIKE NO ONE ELSE HAS, OR WILL EVER HAVE, THIS MAY BE THE ONE FOR YOU.
IT WILL BE WELL PACKED, AND SHIPPED TO THE LOWER 48 STATES, INSURED, FOR A FLAT FEE OF $50

Want to Buy: Mike Ramsey Electric (maple neck)
I am looking to purchase a new or mint used, Mike Ramsey Electric Openback banjo. I missed one the other day as the ad expired (Lloyd 676), just as I was about to inquire. Any info will be much appreciated. I poked around on the internet and couldn't find any new ones. A used one in mint condition would be good also. Thanks again!! Brian M

For Sale: Gibson RB-3 Wreath Copy - Last Chance - $850 USD
This is a courtesy listing for a friend.
He's selling a really nice Gibson RB-3 Wreath copy.
Double bound mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with wreath MOP inlay, double-cut peghead, bound Cox mahogany resonator with dual concentric rings, Cox 3-ply maple rim, Sullivan 20-hole flathead tone ring (same ring as the Gibson-Crowe), dual coordinator rods, one piece flange, 24 bracket notched tension hoop, new Remo head, 5th string capo spikes installed at 7 and 9, planetary tuners with geared 5th peg, and Presto tailpiece. All of the hardware is new nickel plated Recording King parts.
The only issue with this banjo is the heel was originally cut for a two-piece flange, and has now been modified to fit a one-piece flange.
The inside of the resonator is signed by the late, great Earl Scruggs.
Comes shipped in a good, serviceable hard shell case.
A sound file of this banjo is available.
In case you might want to see and play this one in person, the banjo is located in the Bedford, VA area.
The parts alone in this banjo are worth more than the owner's asking price, in my humble opinion.
Once you do the math, I think you'll quickly realize what a great buy this is.
He's only selling it to buy a maple archtop banjo.

For Sale: 1958 Vega Pete Seeger Banjo with original calf skin head, bridge, tuners and hang tag - $6,000 USD
Here is a very rare 1958 Vega Long Neck Pete Seeger Banjo. This is the early version with 28 brackets. This banjo was bought in 1958 by a man who tried to play but quickly lost interest and in the closet it went. The only modifications he ever did to the banjo was put the little screen door I bolt in the neck for the strap like everyone did. There is a picture of this. The rest of the banjo is original. It has the original finish. Unbelievably it still has the original calf skin Vega head. The bridge is the original bridge from 1958. The tuners were never changed to Grovers like most Seeger Banjos. The banjo still has the original hang tag and case key. The original warranty was sent in but the owners half is still with the banjo. The original owner kept the banjo stored in the house until he died about 15 years ago and then his son who didn't play banjo kept for another 10 years before deciding to sell it to me. I have owned the banjo for 5 years and it just sits in my closet so I thought maybe its time to move it on. The banjo comes with the original Vega Hard case with 2 case pockets. The banjo is in excellent condition. There is one Rail Road Capo Spike on the fingerboard. The banjo has a few very light scratches but overall is very clean. There is no fret wear. The neck is straight. The plating on the metal parts is excellent. This may be the cleanest most original 1958 Vega Long Neck in existence. The serial number is shown in a picture. It dates to 1958. There is no Yellow Tape label with serial number which is correct for this year. Seegers did not get that until about 1960. If you need more info or pictures email and I'll post more. This banjo is in Arizona and is available for inspection in person if you are close.

For Sale: Goldstar GF-85 Only a month old. JLS #12 tone ring installed. - $1,250 USD
I bought this banjo new about a month ago from banjoteacher.com. When i ordered it, i also bought a JLS#12 tone ring and had them install it, along with a 5th string spike at the 7th fret. Then i came across a different used banjo that i couldnt pass up so im gonna sell this one since its still new before it depreciates. This banjo has a new sosebee bridge, and comes with the hardshell case. I am also including the stock goldstar ring that you see in the picture.
I paid 1200 for the banjo, 300 for the ring and 200 for labor and set up fees. I know im taking a loss on it, and it probably has only an hour total playing time, but Ill let it all go for 1250. Basically its would be like buying a new gf85 ( which it practically is ) but you get a free jls tone ring, and spike already installed, along with the original ring if you ever wanted to swap out.

For Sale: Gibson Mastertone - $1,500 USD
Gibson Mastertone banjo from late 60's. Full thickness rim and one- piece flange. I have 2 videos of me playing it on my hangout page videos (the second and third from the top) banjohangout.org/myhangout/vid...rID=22701 . It sounds and plays better now than it did. I replaced the nut with prewar style bone nut and pip and replaced the worn original jumbo frets with medium stainless steel frets. The 4 tuners are original and work great. The fifth string tuner was originally a friction type but I put a Waverly geared tuner in its place. The tuner buttons are original. The neck was broken and repaired long ago and is structurally sound. Has good old sound from the old wood. A great Gibson tone and power. I must be nuts for selling it. There's a marking on the headstock... Gibson, and on the fret board inlay...Mastertone. $1500 OBO

Asking Price: $5,500
This banjo new lists for $8,340 on Stelling’s website. There is of course a wait time of several months for a new instrument, and I don’t believe they use burl walnut anymore, only straight-grain wood, so it would likely be a custom order for burl walnut.
Trades involving top quality, vintage OMEs will be considered.
For someone looking for one of Stelling's flagship banjos, it simply doesn't get much better than this.
All questions will be forwarded to the owner. Please allow 12-24 hours for a response.

For Sale: Proto Type Gibson TB-500 Conversion - $3,800 USD
Hello, I was fortunate enough a few years ago to acquire several style 500 and style 800 proto types. I liked these banjos because the shells were full thickness 3 ply maple, one piece flange and best of all, the tone rings really sounded good. I used some of these rings in a few old banjos I had and they sounded great. The Proto types on these banjos were stamped AA-??. As near as I can tell the earliest of these was 1961 which we know was 3 years before entering production and onto the market in 1964. I don't know the origin of these gold plated tone rings although I have heard many theory's and much speculation, they are still just that, theory's and speculation. They can't be confirmed so that's that. I do know they match the PW specs closely and sound great. I used one on an old one piece flange Granada conversion and anyone would be hard pressed to say it isn't an original PW flat head banjo by the sound. All of that said, I have one of these left that is stamped AA-46. I have a beautiful, matching tobacco maple 5 string neck with Rosewood fb and Flying Eagle pattern on it. I don't remember where the neck came from, but I usually had Frank Neat build my necks. I put a new gold Presto TP on it. It also has Scruggs tuners. This banjo sounds great. It comes with the original TP, an original 500 tenor neck though not original to this banjo, the original tenor case, and of course the 5-string neck and case. I have described to the best of my ability but please don't hesitate with any questions you may have. $3,800.00 + shipping. Please add 3% if PP is used.
