For Sale: 1924 Gibson RB5 Conversion - $3,000 USD
Of course an RB5 did not exist in 1924 but if it did it would look like this. All original 1924 TB5 pot with trap door resonator. Five string neck beautifully made by Dave Nerad to mimic the original tenor neck except for the frailing scoop at the base. The neck is in near mint condition and the pot and resonator are not far behind. There is some wear to the gold plating on the older metal parts but nothing objectionable. The new butterscotch tuner buttons nicely match the original color scheme. Finger board and peghead inlays are gorgeous. Tone is great and works well for finger picking or frailing. Shipped in an as new Guardian case which requires some padding for a tight fit. More photos available for serious buyers. $3000 plus shipping. Thanks for looking.

For Sale: 1926 Gibson TB Granada - $6,000 USD
Beautiful 1926 Gibson TB Granada w/OHSC in very good condition This is a ball-bearing, two piece flange model with a very nice original Kirshner tailpiece. The original (rare) armrest solder joint broke loose at some point but is easily corrected. I got this banjo from the original owner's grand-daughter and was told the owner played Dixieland / Jazz in a bar he owned in Wisconsin. He bought it new and cared for it until forced to give it up later in life. It sat in the case for quite a few years. The gold is excellent and the wood is amazing. The neck has a stained glass look. The resonator is well figured with clearcoat crazing normal for this age instrument. It was obviously well cared for. I bought it thinking conversion but think it is too nice to alter. You will be pleased. Price dropped for quick sale. $6000 firm. Thanks for looking.

For Sale: Gibson Parts Banjo - $1,100 USD
Gibson Mastertone style 5-string banjo in excellent condition!
Beautiful one piece flamed curly maple neck, ebony fretboard with style -6 MOP inlay, pearloid peghead overlay with 'Gibson' script, two-way truss rod, genuine Gibson RB-100 resonator, one piece flange, 3-ply maple rim, 20-hole pre-war style flathead tone ring, 24 bracket notched tension hoop, dual coordinator rods, geared planetary tuners, 5th string capo spikes installed at 7 and 9, heavy-duty adjustable Presto style tailpiece.
I've made a few changes since some of these pics were taken. I swapped the un-plated tone ring for a nickel plated one, removed the wooden armrest cover (included if buyer wants it), added one additional resonator wall lug (bringing the total to four), and also installed a flip cover on the tailpiece.
This is a pro quality banjo that plays and sounds as good as banjos at 2-3x the price.
It's currently set-up with a new USA Remo head, and an 11/16" Snuffy Smith bridge. The action is low and fast with no shims or alterations. It will come shipped in a very nice tweed TKL archtop hard shell case.
Insured shipping is $50 in the lower 48 states. PayPal is accepted.
More pics and info are available upon request.

For Sale: Gibson 8002-37 Oriole Tenor Banjo 1925 - $250 USD
A nice collector as it is one of the first few made in 1925. FON is 8002-37, so it's very early.
As you all probably know these beauties were made by Gibson and represent the absolute best quality-for-price ratio on the market.
This one is not made for conversion to a bluegrass banjo—the rim is the thinner type and it is 10.5 inches so if you are looking for a conversion you will have to go with the thick rim 11 inch Oriole which are commanding around $700 these days.
The good news is that you can get this one much cheaper AND it sounds and plays fantastic!
Since I like a higher bridge to achieve more volume I have shimmed the neck for use of the higher bridge. If you like a lower bridge you can remove the shim. The action as is is just perfect, very low. It plays like butter---no issues, no buzzes, etc. At some point in it's life somebody bought a "Gibson Guarantee" sticker on eBay and stuck it inside the rim. I wouldn't have done that but there it is.
Friction tuners hold like a champ—they always seem to do that for me once I clean them up a bit. The metal looks nearly new as does the wood. No fret wear either.
Just a real little gem and can be had for cheap. No case but will pack well.

For Sale or Trade: 2005 Gibson RB Deluxe w/ full tone ring - $1,200 USD
Pot assy. is a Gibson RB Deluxe with full tone ring 2004 or 2005. Gibson USA flange can be seen in photo. Serial number is hard to read, but ends in 27.
Neck is older 250 Bowtie with original Kluson tuners that still work good. Resonator is not Gibson and unknown brand. All wood is in very good shape and
has no scratches or dents. All metal very good condition. Includes hard shell case and has a Snuffy Smith bridge on it. The neck does have a thin shim to
allow strings to set low and make easy to play. Plays and sounds good as is, but a good set up by an expert would probably make it even better since I'm
no expert. Would consider trades, guitar or banjo (+ or- $)

For Sale: Bart Reiter Special - £1,150 GBP ($1,651.63 USD)
I am selling my very well-looked after Bart Reiter Special open back banjo, supplied with a hard case. The 11” rim is made of three-ply maple (5/8” thick) with a rosewood cap, a rolled brass tone ring and 24 L-shoe brackets. The neck is also made of maple, with an ebony fingerboard and peghead cover, with simple but attractive mother of pearl inlay, characteristic of Bart Reiter banjos. The neck is reinforced with an adjustable truss rod and features a frailer’s scoop – a nice addition by the maker that is not a standard feature on these models. After purchase I added a nickel armrest and replaced the pearloid tuner buttons with ebony ones. These fit the geared Five Star tuners perfectly and better suit the overall ‘blonde and dark’ look of the banjo. I also had a very nice John Balch mottled calf-skin head installed, which produces a warmer sound. (The original pearloid buttons and renaissance head can be provided if preferred.) The banjo can be seen and heard here: youtube.com/watch?v=CwdGv91jWIc. (Apologies for the quality of the recording, but it was taken on an old iPhone.)
Bart Reiter banjos have an excellent reputation. They are carefully made, very reliable and are rare in the UK owing to the cost of importing them. This is therefore an opportunity to buy a sought-after banjo (set-up by the maker himself), which is in excellent condition and shows no wear. I am very sorry to sell it, but a banjo of this quality, which was made less than two years ago, should go to someone who is likely to play it more often than I am currently able to. The banjo produces a great sound and is suitable for playing at home, but is easily powerful enough for any session. Ideally, the buyer would collect, but shipping can be arranged at the buyer’s expense.

For Sale: Buckbee/WTB Sterling reduced price - $850 USD
Buckbee/W.T.B. STERLING FIVE-STRING BANJO,
The name W.T.B Sterling appeared on many production line instruments from the late 19th century up until the 1920s and oftentimes can be attributed to large musical instrument manufacturers such as Buckbee, Tonk Brothers (the T.B.), or later Lyon & Healy, and or Regal Built in the USA in the era of 1890 – 1900. This instrument is a part of history. American, late 19th century, with an extraordinary example of ornate inlay, a combination of mother-of-pearl accented with copper and silver, , on the 17 fret neck and tuning Head as well as the heel, which is indicatory of a luxuriant high end instrument of its time . The length is 31/2 “. The scale is 24" and the frets are in good condition. The bridge is 1/2" and the action at the 12th fret is a bit less than 1/8''.The tuners are celluloid friction type. and it has 30 original shoes, hooks and nuts. The pot is a spun over type rim. It has a replacement skin head, 10 1/4" diameter, that has a penciled date of "FEB.-1935 on the inner surface. The original instrument had a screw on either side of the dowel entry which served as a neck to pot fastener. They have been removed and a fastener, from the same era which applies tension with ebony shims, has replaced them. With the exception of the replacement head, neck tensioning system and a reproduction noKnot tailpiece,
A BHO member Bill Anderson was kind enough to show me a copy of an appraisal done by John Bernunzio, of an identical instrument, last year which identifies the builder as Buckbee.
the instrument is as it was almost a century ago Completely playable with few signs of wear, this plays as good as it looks.

For Sale: Fender 5 String--FB-54 Model - $300 USD
Fender FB-54 5 String...I bought this banjo in 1998 at Del City Music in Del City, Oklahoma. It is in very good condition and would be great as a Beginner Banjo. Original Fender case included. I recently bought a Lakota (Non-Cradle) strap for it and will throw the strap in on the sale. Strap was $60.00 and is less than a month old and is made out of Bison Hide...super soft!! I did cut some of the excess strap off after I fitted it to the length I needed. Thanks for looking...Picker54

For Sale: Vintage Kay Banjo - $299 USD
Collector’s item! This 1960's Kay is an open back 5-string banjo. It has 30 brackets/ hooks which allow you to tighten the Snuffy Smith head very easily and evenly. The banjo is in great shape overall. The black lacquer finish is lightly scratched here and there, but there are no cracks or splits; no severe gouges or dings. The chrome hoop and brackets are in very good shape and the tuning pegs all work smoothly and efficiently. Two of the tuning machine arms are slightly bent but could be straightened easily. The fret board has a very small chip at the upper end of the neck, and the 11th fret wire has a slight ding in it and just needs to be filed smooth. A couple of the upper frets need adjusting. I put a brand new bridge on it and it works quite well. Except for the new bridge and head, this banjo is all original. Kay was once a high volume company that produced and sold a lot of banjos. This one was made in Chicago in the early 1960's. The 30 bracket models, like this banjo, were higher end Kays. This banjo has good sound and has many an old time tune like Sourwood Mountain and Cripple Creek under its belt. Will consider any reasonable offer! :-)

For Sale: Edney - $750 USD
Here, for your consideration, is a Robert Edney "Wooden Lady," due to the scalloped brass and wood tone ring. It's Edney #3 in the series. Nos. 1 and 2 have happy owners, according to Robert. All the hardware is solid brass...even the position markers. Hard maple was used for the block rim and the main portions of the neck. The rest of the wood is Bocate, which Robert believes produces a superior tone. (IMHO, it does!) He hand-selects the woods for tone. You can adjust the head tension, head type, and put something under the head to mute the tones to get anything from a resonate, ringing tone to an old-time plunky sound.
This Wooden Lady has a 26" scale, an 11" pot and is 3.5" deep in the pot. The nut is 1 5/16" wide and fashioned from lignum vitae, a waxey wood that lubricates the strings. It's equipped with 5-Star tuners, a No-Knot tailpiece, and a Remo head. I just had the set-up tweaked a bit by Waterville, Maine luthier, Dennis Patkus. Dennis moved the 5th string pip a couple of millimeters and left the original screw hole unfilled. The brass plate on the lower part of the rim, just below the tailpiece says "Wooden Lady" and Robert fixed a similar plate on the inside with the maker's information.
The banjo will be shipped in bubble-wrap and securely boxed. To hear Robert play this banjo, pull up the clip at: youtube.com/watch?v=j4FY_LHac1Q or search U-tube with "Wooden Lady banjo." Thanks for looking it over.
